Design Sketches - Kwesi Phillips

Description

Design 1 - In order to allow DJ’s immediate feedback regarding a new song choice,
this format of application will provide said feedback, which includes all types of listeners
(those who are active and participating and those who feel bored). As the song begins,
a recording device captures resulting sound levels from the crowd. Through recognition
software, the app will recognize the different audience sound levels and put those results
on a screen. This helps with getting unobtrusive data that is nevertheless useful to the user.
While this non-computer interface for garnering data is preferred, the app also allows
for different methods of gathering feedback, including text responses, online voting, etc.

Design 2 - Tailored away from radio DJs and more towards professional party DJs, this application rewards
those who choose the upcoming song correctly. The DJ decides certain songs, and the audience
can vote as to which song is going to play next. Voting occurs during the performance, and results
are displayed on a screen. When the song is chosen, those who guessed correctly have the chance to
win prizes, and the DJ gets a sense of what the audience is expecting.

Design 3 - To foster interrelationships between professional DJs, this app idea takes
information about what the DJ is playing through the running music software on his
computer, and displays it on a profile page. Other DJs seeing the music choices and
mixes occurring could suggest new mixes, mashups, and songs that go well with the
flow of that certain song. These suggestions show up in a feed in real time, so it could
help widen the range of song choices and genres for the original DJ and expand his
musical progress.

Description

this design is a mobile application for the user
as well as a web interface for the Dj. It Allows the
user to see 3 screens. One which is the current
song playing. Where they can like the song, dislike
or gain more information. Another is the Up next list,
which provides the opportunity to vote on one of two
songs to be played next. The third is a playlist of sorts
to show previous songs played at the event.

The Dj can choose any pair of songs and add them to
the queue for songs for users to vote for. It also includes
a meter to gauge the overall user approval of the party,
This is based on songs liked. Etc.

There is also a place to show a playlist that he plans to
play, in case he doesn't want to give the users an option
for upcoming songs, or in case he doesnt have time, he
 has a fall back.

This device is a visual scanner that scans the mvoement
of the crowd.  It measures how much they are moving to
determine how well the Dj is doing. If there isn't enough
movement or crowd the pad vibrates underneath the feet
of the Blind DJ, that way he can "feel" how well he he is doing,
since he can't see the crowd.

Song Sampler. while Djing the Dj can play a snippet of a song
and with the microphone measure the crowd reaction ( usually
with a good song, they make noise), He can then play another
song snippet and based on which one recieves the best response
 he can play that one
