As part of an ongoing effort to improve the overall performance and usability of the MIT Wiki service,
IS&T will begin an annual archival of Wiki spaces starting this summer. Every July (starting in 2012),
Wiki spaces that have not been viewed for more than one
(1)
year will be removed from the production server
(wikis.mit.edu)
and copied to an archive server
, where they will
on October 4, 2013. This has been an annual process since 2012.
Archived Wiki sites will be maintained for an additional year
. Space owners will have access to the archive server and will be able to view and modify their spaces on the archive server. Archived Wiki sites can be
and can be restored to production upon user request
until the following July (e.g., 2013),
within this one-year period, after which they will be permanently removed.
Space owners may make a request to have their archived space moved back to the production environment by contacting wiki-support@mit.edu with the name and description of their space.
Sites archived as part of the 2013 archival effort will be available for restoration upon user request until October 2014.
NOTE: As of October 4, 2013, sites archived in 2012 will be removed permanently.
