Why do I hold a Project Kick Off?

  • To give a general road map of where the project is headed
  • To give a general plan of how the project gets there (phases)

Steps:

  1. IDENTIFY: Determine participants in Project Kick Off meeting.  This should range from Sponsor, Business Owner, IS&T Communication Team and project team members
  2. INFORM: Facilitate Kick Off meeting agenda via the checklist provided below
  3. ENGAGE: Communicate with Sponsor and Stakeholders to ensure alignment, obtain sign offs and address outstanding issues

Brief summary of the project based on the Business Case

Review project phases and high level time line. Review only what you know so far. For each phase you review, you should have at least one high level goal and deliverable, including documentation and sign-offs

Review and Sign-off Responsibilities

Determine who will review documents and how feedback will be incorporated, who will sign-off on documents, and who will be the functional decision maker.

Communication Plan

Determine both sponsor and team meeting frequency, attendees, and documentation.

Review the timeline with specific milestones and decision points
