Enabling Attendance

To enable Attendance, check the Enable Attendance box on the General tab of the Gradebook Settings page. After activating the Attendance Tool, you will need to configure via the Attendance Settings.

After enabling Attendance, you will need to Configure it.

Entering Grades

Attendance grades are entered per meeting. Students are marked as presentabsent, or excused. A student is then given an overall attendance grade based on Grade Counts

Make-up grades can be added to absent grades. For more information on make-up grades see: 

Viewing Student Attendance Grades

You can view a student's Attendance grade by accessing the Student Detail page and viewing the Attendance Category in the Category Table. This will give the student's overall attendance grade as well as how many Meetings (assignments) have been graded.

Attendance grades are not factored into a student's Class Grades.

Filtering the Students Table

You can filter the Student Table by entering text into the Student Filter (1). The numeral beside the Student Filter indicates how many students are currently displayed in the table.

By Meeting

In the Meeting Filter (11), all meeting dates are listed as links. Clicking on a meeting date will display it. The Current Meeting (3is highlighted in blue - in the above example, December 2nd is the current meeting.

By Section

You can filter the student table by selecting a section from the Filter By Section (12) drop down. By default, all sections and students are displayed.

By Incomplete Date

Any past meetings with ungraded students will be listed under the Incomplete Dates (13section. Clicking on a date will display that meeting.

  1. Meeting Date - Displays which meeting date you are viewing. When you click Attendance in the top navigation bar, the selected meeting date will default to whichever meeting is closest to the current date.
  2. Cancel this Meeting - Create a cancellation exception for the selected meeting date.
  3. Calendar - Displays all meeting dates on a calendar. Meeting dates are distinguished by blue circles. Whichever meeting date you are currently viewing will be distinguished by an orange circle. Use the left and right triangle icons to navigate between months.
  4. Incomplete Dates - A list of any meeting dates that have passed and are not yet fully graded.
  5. Summary - Displays how many grades have and have not been entered.
  6. Filter by Name - Search or filter the student list by typing part or all of a student's name.
  7. Mark All - Mark all students as present, absent, or excused at once.
  8. Download/Upload XLS - Export the Full Roster Grade Report XLS via the Download XLS button, or export the Full Roster Grade Report XLS, Overall Letter Grades XLS, Session Summary XLS, or Online Grading CSV via the triangle icon. Import the Session Summary XLS by clicking the triangle icon and selecting Upload Overall Letter Grades XLS.
  9. Student list - Displays a list of names and photos for each student, as well as their section assignment.
  10. Present, Absent, and Excused - Mark students present, absent, or excused. When a student is excused, the meeting date will not be factored into their overall attendance grade.
  11. Actions - Additional actions to be taken with any particular student or grade.
    1. View History - View a record of activity taken for a particular grade, such as prior grade changes. Displays what changes were made, who made the change, and when the change was made.
    2. Add Comment - Enter a comment for a student for that meeting date.

Entering Grades

To enter an attendance grade, simply click either the Present or Absent button according to that student's attendance on that meeting date. Alternatively, you may Excuse a student via the Actions menu. Grades are saved when the checkmark icon turns green.
