Wiki MarkupRideShare is a web-based application and can be run from any web browser (Firefox or Chrome, application that is run via a web browser (Firefox or Chrome suggested). The RideShare prototype can be found at \[url\]at https://mv-ezproxy-com.ezproxy.canberra.edu.au/index.html.

Please attempt to complete the following tasks when you are testing the website: 

  1. Find all rides to the Logan airport.
  2. Look for a ride to Logan Airport from MIT on May 17th at 6 AM.
  3. There are no matches; post a new ride listing advertising a taxi ride from MIT to Logan on May 17th at 6 AM.
  4. Invite some friends over e-mail to share the ride with you.

Incomplete Features

Log In
  • Users has have to log in with an MIT certificate to use the website, but the feature is not fully implemented. Users can still use some features parts of the website without logging in.

  • The search panel currently only supports filtering by the "travel" category, although other values may be entered into the form.
Ride Posting
  • When a user submits a ride to be posted, it will result in a canned response (the same thing will be posted regardless of what information the user enters). The entered information will not be saved to the database.
  • Rides cannot be deleted.
Sharing a Ride
  • Sharing a ride is also canned. The auto-generated message text is currently the same for each ride. E-mail isn't implemented; no message will actually be sent.
  • The "Message Poster" button doesn't do anything yet.
