GR1 - Task analysis

Definitions

Wishdex - A user-generated list of online shopping items, on wishdex.com (domain to be obtained).

User analysis

  1. Serious Shopper - Aged 18-30. Uses Wishdex to bookmark items from online stores that they like. Visits Wishdex 3 times a week or more.
  2. Casual Shopper - Aged 18-30. Uses Wishdex as a wishlist, to share with their friends and family. Visits Wishdex heavily a few times a year (Christmas, Birthdays).
  3. Acquaintance - Aged 18-30. Friends of users who are mainly interested in seeing what a particular Wishdex owner likes, though are not necessarily buying items.
  4. Explorer - Aged 18-30. Not necessarily a friend of a user, but uses Wishdex to see what random other people are shopping for. 
  5. Gifter - Aged 5-60. Friends and family of users who are interested in buying items for the Wishdex owner.

Task analysis

  1. Log in - More important for Serious Shopper, Casual Shopper, and Explorer
    Goal: to identify yourself and access certain features
    Precondition: have a Facebook account
    1. Connect to Facebook. This is the only way to log in.
  2. Manage a Wishdex - More important for Serious Shopper
    Goal: to keep track of items you like while shopping online
    Precondition: must be logged in
    1. Add an item
      Preconditions: have a link or descriptive words for an item
      Frequency: often, while browsing online stores
    2. Delete an item
    3. Mark item as acquired
    4. View items currently in wish list
    5. Jump to shopping page (Amazon, etc.)
  3. Share a Wishdex (by link) - More important for Casual Shopper
    Goal: to show friends/family items you like or may want to buy
    Precondition: must be logged in
    1. Share all items in list
    2. Share sublist
  4. View a Wishdex - More important for Acquaintance, Explorer, and Gifter
    Goal: to see what a user likes
    Precondition: have a link to the Wishdex
    1. View items in a user's Wishdex
  5. Explore Wishdexes - More important for Explorer
    Goal: to find interesting Wishdexes to look at
    1. Find Wishdexes belonging to friends
      Precondition: must be logged in
    2. Find popular or random Wishdexes, or Wishdexes in a particular category
    3. View recent activity
  6. Comment on or "like" items on a Wishdex - More important for Acquaintance and Explorer
    Goal: to express an opinion on items
    Precondition: must be logged in
  7. Buy items on a wish list - More important for Gifter
    Goal: to buy an item for a friend or family member who owns a Wishdex
    Precondition: must be viewing a wishdex
    1. Jump to shopping page (Amazon, etc.) for a particular item
    2. Send owner of Wishdex a message (can be anonymous) to commit to buying an item
      Precondition: Must be Facebook friends with owner and logged in
