Problem Statement

Phi Kappa Sigma is faced with different problems throughout the year, such as Rush and house maintenance.

  1. During Rush, freshman are faced with the difficult proposition of getting to know various MIT fraternities.
    •  There is usually a time constraint that reduces the amount of time each freshman can visit each fraternity.
    • During their visit the freshman may not be able to meet and interact with each brother of the house.
    • When not around a computer freshman only have a small book that includes a list of all activities from all fraternities.
    • Fraternities like to give house tours to each freshman, but these tours usually go very fast and do not provide an in-depth look at the whole house.
  2. The brothers of Phi Kappa Sigma have the issues of maintaining the houses integrity and dealing with personal scheduling problems.
    • The house manager must manually assign, send out, remind, and verify all house jobs. This is very time consuming.
    • Brothers often forget to do house jobs or tell the house manager that a job has been completed.
    • Schedules often conflict over the use of common house areas and resources.

SkullWeb is a website that aims to solve the problem faced by freshmen by providing virtual house tours, brother profiles, and a concise Rush schedule (optimized for mobile viewing). For brothers, the site will provide a centralized and automated system for scheduling and verifying completion of house jobs, complete with an email reminder system. A reservation scheduler will also allow brothers to reserve common house areas and be notified of upcoming reservations.
