Problem Statement

Students, professors, and staff members find it increasingly difficult to locate their colleagues around campus. Currently, they may call, text, or visit their colleagues' offices to see if they are available. This is time-consuming, because people may be away from their desks or simply unavailable. The People need a tool to help them unobtrusively find their colleagues' location and status.

Discover.Me will not only save people time finding their colleagues, but will also help them find new friends with similar interests. For example, two students performing similar research may pass each other in the hall without realizing their similar interests. Discover.Me will help them identify and connect to each other. Most professors and students can benefit by seeing the social connections linking them to their immediate colleagues and the wider community. Discover.Me will help facilitate increased communication by enabling people to visualize their immediate and expanded social network.
