As part of an ongoing effort to improve the overall performance and usability of the MIT Wiki service, every July, Wiki spaces that have not been viewed for more than one year will be removed from the production server and copied to an archive server, where they will be maintained for an additional year.
During this time, Wiki space owners will be able to view and modify their spaces on the archive server. Archived Wiki sites can be restored to production upon user request within a one-year period, after which they will be permanently removed. Sites archived as part of the July 2013 archival effort will be available for restoration upon user request until July 2014.
Beginning in May 2012, a series of announcements will be made to the MIT community, including administrative and academic departments, alerting them of the new Wikis archival plan and providing them with information on the status of specific Wiki spaces. Regular reminders and schedule milestones will continue to be communicated to all Wiki users on an ongoing basis throughout the archival process. Unknown macro: {align}
