Fundamental Forces

Forces which can influence the motion of elementary fermionic particles (currently the only elementary fermionic particles known are quarks and leptons). The only fundamental force which is studied directly in introductory mechanics is gravitation (universal).

At this time (and energy) four forces are given the status "fundamental". They are:

  • Gravitation
  • Electricty/magnetism
  • Weak nuclear force
  • Strong nuclear force
