Platform & Instructions

RideShare is a web-based application that is run via a web browser (Firefox or Chrome suggested). The RideShare prototype can be found at https://mv-ezproxy-com.ezproxy.canberra.edu.au/index.html.

Please attempt to complete the following tasks when you are testing the website:

  1. Find all rides to Logan airport.
  2. Look for a ride to Logan Airport from MIT on May 17th at 6 AM.
  3. There are no matches; post a new ride listing advertising a taxi ride from MIT to Logan on May 17th at 6 AM.
  4. Invite some friends over e-mail to share the ride with you.

Incomplete Features

  • The search panel currently only supports filtering by the "travel" category, although other values may be entered into the form.
Ride Posting
  • When a user submits a ride to be posted, it will result in a canned response (the same thing will be posted regardless of what information the user enters). The entered information will not be saved to the database.
  • Rides cannot be deleted.
Sharing a Ride
  • Sharing a ride is also canned. The auto-generated message text is currently the same for each ride. E-mail isn't implemented; no message will actually be sent.
  • The "Message Poster" button doesn't do anything yet.
Alert Messages
  • Alert messages (the red text on the main panel) are mostly canned. They are not dynamically updated as the state of the system changes.
  • No labels
